New York Task Force 1 (NYTF-1), a part of the FEMA U.S. National Urban Search and Rescue (US&R) Response System, is proud to present the US&R Medical Team Specialist (MTS) course at the FDNY Fire Academy. The purpose of the Medical Team Specialist course is to provide emergency responders with the knowledge and skills needed to work effectively in the austere environment. Some topics include crush syndrome; environmental injuries; confined space medicine and rescue techniques; search canine veterinary care; and many hands-on scenarios including a practical field exercise in a live rubble and collapse environment.
The US&R Medical Team Specialist course is a blended learning program consisting of a 13-hour computer-based training (CBT) module and 46 hours of instructor led training (ILT) over 5 days.

If for any reason, FDNY has to cancel the course, you will receive a full refund. In the event of cancellation, we will notify registrants as early as possible, but FDNY assumes no liability for expenses incurred by the registrant and/or agency up to the time of the course.
