A Second Chance for One New Yorker

Our second FDNY Pro Film shines a light on the critical links in the chain of survival that gave one New Yorker a second chance at life after experiencing a sudden cardiac arrest. On May 5, 2016, Ashley Newman was rehearsing for an upcoming performance with her dance company when she collapsed without warning. With Ms. Newman having no pulse and not breathing, her colleagues immediately called 911 for help. When victims suffer from cardiac arrest, a precious few minutes can mean the difference between life and death. The quick action of Ms. Newman’s friends and coworkers to immediately call 911, along with expert response from the FDNY, was this difference.
